THOU MAYEST 'THE WAY IS OPEN'
The Way is Open
Like all awesome things, Thou Mayest started in a garage. With a name inspired by the words of John Steinbeck, a name that seemed strange to those unaware, they'd have a lot of explaining to do.
This is where it all started; our first project with Thou Mayest. Looking back at it today a lot has changed. At the time of filming, Thou Mayest were still roasting out of a dark garage. We were forced to find creative ways of showcasing their young coffee roasting company while they were still developing their brand identity and visual assets. Things that made this a challenging but exciting project. In just a short year and a half, Thou Mayest would move to their current location on 18th street in the crossroads of Kansas City. While this piece is one of the first that we created, to this day we receive many comments from clients and outsiders about how this video struck a chord with them.
Yes, this was shot four years ago. Yes, camera technology has changed and yes, Thou Mayest is in a stylish brick and mortar space now. All of which lend itself to more traditional advertising. But at it's core the basic tenants of story-telling and marketing are there. The guys at Thou Mayest were bright-eyed and full steam ahead. Grabbing on to the words of John Steinbeck 'The Way is Open' to see that their life and brand were vast, glowing, empty pages to be written by them.
