Inspired by the words of John Steinbeck, Thou Mayest has seen that 'the way is open' and with that has seized the opportunity to take on a coffee scene that sometimes takes itself too seriously, instead opting to 'take fun seriously.'
A year and a half after we created the first video, Thou Mayest approached us a second time about creating a piece to launch with the opening of their new space located on 18th street in the crossroads of Kansas City. We knew that having a brick and mortar shop to work with for our shoot would allow us certain luxuries that we didn't have the first time around. We began to work on concepts, committed to building on the ideas of the first video. 'The Way is Open' kept coming back into our heads. The new space was to embody that very idea; inviting people who are looking for ways to do community better. Before we began shooting, we sat down with owners Bo & Bill to talk about the overall language and message of the video. Once we had the messaging and voiceover complete we began to shoot during three days of the soft open week. Two weeks later we wrapped post-production and had a piece that we were all really happy with.
