MOTM '17 Promo

 
 

OVERVIEW

Ink’s Middle of the Map Fest annually curates and cultivates the unique arts and creative culture of the Midwest, bringing together a sense of community in local and national talent in an annual festival featuring music, forum and film.

Our promo for Middle Of The Map 2017 was just as fun to shoot as our 2016 promo but with less players involved. This was a conscience choice as certain conditions outside of our control called for a quick production and turnaround. We pitched the concept to the MOTM team of a dancer making his way around Kansas City. Our reference were dance scenes in teen movies from the 80's, most notably The Breakfast Club. We styled our talent, John Anthony after Emilio Estevez's character, complete with white reebok classics.

For the band titles, we opted for a traditional white bold lettering with black drop shadow, slightly blurred in order to be easier to read and most importantly to look something more akin to type being superimposed on film as if it were done in the 1980s. This whole promo was filmed in one day with a skeleton crew and edited in two days and released 5 days after we filmed.
